Dave Diamond’s career in music spans more than twenty years. A prolific singer/songwriter and session musician, Dave has recorded and performed as a solo artist and with his own band as well as with an array of other talented and acclaimed musicians.Diamond’s mature and finely crafted blend of rootsy Americana with a little funk and classic singer-songwriter rock resonates for both the casual listener and those who have a more discerning palette.
Although most people know drummer and multi-instrumentalist Dave Diamond’s world-class playing with bands like Assembly of Dust, Zen Tricksters. His past experiences of sharing the stage with the likes of Bob Weir, Donna Jean Godchaux, Robert Randolph, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge or supporting such artists such as Maceo Parker, moe., Todd Rundgren the list goes on and on have helped inform his considerable catalogue of original music. While it’s true that most of Diamond’s career has been spent helping shape the jam band scene in North America, it would be foolish to categorize his work as derivative of any one genre. They reveal a wide range of influences including contemporary indie rock to late 60s/early 70s Laurel Canyon rhythms and inflections. From the funk of James Brown to Jamiriqoui and even a dose of latin to afro pop his songs are immediately accessible.
